Firefighting & Fire Protection
The package nobody inspects until it matters, installed by welders who are certified for the joint.
NRGC installs fire protection and detection systems as part of its mechanical scope — sprinkler pipework, fire pumps, standpipes and hose reels — fabricated, installed, pressure-tested and commissioned by the same pipe fitters and welders who deliver the plumbing and process piping packages.
Fire protection and detection is listed in our mechanical scope of work and is delivered by the same crews that build the plumbing and process piping — pipe fitters, pipe fabricators and coded welders, with mechanical supervisors over them.
That matters more here than on other packages. A sprinkler main is a pressurised system that will sit untested for years, so the quality of the joint and the honesty of the test record are the whole product. We hydro-test, we record it, and we hand the records over.
What the package covers
- Fire protection and detection system installation
- Sprinkler pipework — mains, risers and branch distribution
- Fire pump sets and jockey pumps
- Standpipes, landing valves and hose reel cabinets
- Fire water tanks and pump room pipework
- Pipe fabrication, spooling and coded welding
- Hangers, supports and seismic bracing
- Hydro-testing, flushing and commissioning records
Detection, alarm and suppression control panels are covered on our ELV & low current page, which is pending licence approval — see the note there.

Questions
About this service
Does NRGC install firefighting systems as part of an MEP package?
Yes, and that is the usual arrangement. Firefighting sits inside our mechanical scope alongside HVAC and plumbing, so the sprinkler routing is coordinated on the same shop drawings as the ductwork and the water services rather than being fitted around them afterwards.
Are NRGC’s welders certified for pressure pipework?
We employ welders holding 3G/4G and 6G positions, plus TIG/argon and MIG welders, and they are on our own payroll rather than hired in per job. Certificates are provided with the prequalification pack on request.
Does NRGC obtain Civil Defence approval?
We install and test to the approved design and produce the test and commissioning records the approval process requires. The approval itself is applied for by the consultant or the project owner, and we support that submission with our documentation.
