Quality assurance & control
QA/QC & Quality
Quality control that is bought in per project is quality control that leaves when the project ends. Ours is staff — the same engineers who produce the drawings inspect the work against them.
NRGC controls quality with its own engineering staff — 2 civil engineers and architects, 3 electrical and 2 mechanical engineers — producing shop drawings, material submittals and method statements in-house, inspecting at agreed hold points, and handing over testing and commissioning records as part of the scope. NRGC does not hold ISO 9001 certification.
NRGC began with lump sum turnkey (LSTK) and lump sum procure and build (LSPB) packages, using its own engineering teams to oversee full technical compliance for design requirements, procurement, pre-commissioning and commissioning. That experience is what now lets us take on full EPC scopes — and it is also where our quality process comes from.
The principle is simple: the work is defined on paper before it starts, checked against that paper at agreed points while it is in progress, and handed over with the records that prove it. Nothing in that chain is subcontracted to a third-party consultant.
Handed over with the work
- Approved shop drawings and material submittals
- Method statements for each work sequence
- Inspection records at the agreed hold points
- Welder qualification certificates where welding is in scope
- Testing, balancing and commissioning records for MEP scopes
- Snag list closure sign-off
- As-built markups where the contract requires them
NRGC does not hold ISO 9001 certification and does not operate a certified quality management system. The controls described above are how we actually work, not a certified scheme — and we would rather describe them accurately than imply an accreditation we do not have. We complete client quality prequalification questionnaires in full.
The control points
Shop drawings and submittals in-house
Shop drawings, material submittals and method statements are produced by our own engineers and CAD operators, so a comment from the consultant comes back to the person who drew it rather than to a third party.
Inspection at agreed hold points
Hold and witness points are agreed with the client before work starts — typically reinforcement before pour, services before closing up, and substrate before finishes — and work does not proceed past them without sign-off.
Welders qualified to the joint
Welding is done by welders qualified to the process the joint needs — 3G, 4G, 6G, TIG and MIG are separate supply categories precisely so the qualification matches the work. Certificates are available per welder.
Testing, commissioning and handover records
MEP packages are pre-commissioned and commissioned by our own engineers, and the test and commissioning records are handed over as part of the scope rather than chased afterwards.
Questions
Common questions
Is NRGC ISO 9001 certified?
No. NRGC does not hold ISO 9001 or operate a third-party certified quality management system. Quality is controlled by directly employed engineers producing and checking the technical documentation, with inspection at hold points agreed with the client before work starts.
Who produces shop drawings on an NRGC package?
Our own staff. NRGC employs 2 civil engineers and architects, 3 electrical engineers and 2 mechanical engineers, and AutoCAD operator is category 35 of the 40 manpower categories. Shop drawings, material submittals and method statements are produced in-house rather than bought in per project.
How are welded joints controlled?
Welding is allocated to welders qualified for the process the joint requires. NRGC supplies welders as separate categories — normal, 3G/4G, 6G, TIG and MIG — so the qualification matches the work rather than being assumed. Individual welder certificates are available on request.
Does NRGC hand over commissioning records?
Yes. For MEP scopes, pre-commissioning and commissioning are carried out by NRGC engineers and the testing, balancing and commissioning records are handed over as part of the scope, together with inspection records at the agreed hold points.
